200-Hour Aromatherapy Certificate Course
In this Professional Aromatherapy Certification course students are prepared for a career as an aromatic therapies practitioner, also known as an aromatherapist. Classes are taught using a combination of audiovisual presentations using an overhead projector, whiteboard or paper chart, lecture, demonstration, and laboratory.
About the Program
Aromatherapy supports the body’s innate healing abilities through the use of aromatic botanical extracts, including essential oils, hydrosols, CO2 extracts, and absolutes. Students receive an education in materia aromatica, aromatic chemistry, aroma pharmacology, aroma energetics, industry standards and best practices, and treatment plan formulation. Designed by clinically-trained Aromatherapist, Amy Kreydin, this course is ideal for those who wish to support their community through aromatic therapies in the healing arts.

The 200-Hour Aromatherapy Certificate course is broken into 11, 16-hour modules and a 1, 8-hour module.

Introduction to Aromatic Therapies
16 hour module covering botany, history, extraction, purity, routes of absorption, the olfactory system, chemistry and materia aromatica on select essential oils.
Introduction to Hydrosols
16 hour module covering the art and science of botanical distillates, live distillation with materia aromatica of select hydrosols, and hydrosol formulations for culinary, cosmetic, and therapeutic purposes.
16 hour module covering anatomy and physiology of the integumentary system, materia medica of 10 carrier oils, chemistry and materia aromatica on select essential oils, and an introduction to cosmeceutical formulating.
16 hour module covering anatomy and physiology of the respiratory, lymphatic, and immune systems, and materia aromatica on select aromatics.
16 hour module covering anatomy and physiology of the digestive system, materia aromatica for select aromatics.
8 hour module covering anatomy and physiology of the circulatory system, materia aromatica for select aromatics.
16 hour module covering anatomy and physiology of the stress system, materia aromatic on select aromatics.
16 hour module covering anatomy and physiology of the male and female reproductive system, materia aromatica for select aromatics.
16 hour module covering anatomy and physiology of the female body from preconception through postpartum; formulating for preconception, each of the trimesters, labor and birth, puerperium and postpartum.
16 hour module covering anatomy and physiology of the musculoskeletal and nervous systems, materia aromatica on select aromatics, and evidence-based practices on pain management using aromatics.
16 hour module enhances students’ skills and knowledge, helping them to gain a better understanding of legal and ethical issues, consulting skills, recordkeeping, and marketing.
16 hour module exploring Eastern and Western energetic applications of essential oils, hydrosols, CO2 extracts, and absolutes.
This 200 hour course meets the current educational guidelines set forth by the Alliance of International Aromatherapists (AIA), and the National Association for Holistic Aromatherapy (NAHA), as a Level Two Professional Aromatherapy Certification course. Graduates are prepared to take the voluntary Aromatherapy Registration Council (ARC) exam upon completion.
